What Jesus Taught Me About the Wounds We Carry: A Lesson from Heaven

Gentle Note: This story includes references to childhood trauma and sexual violence.

There are moments in life that don’t just change you — they rewire the way you understand life itself. My near-death experience in 2007 did that for me. During my time in Heaven, I had a conversation with Jesus that transformed my understanding of pain, healing, and Love forever.

I don’t remember exactly where I was when Jesus walked up to me and asked softly,“Can I talk to you for a minute?”

“Yes,” I replied.

He looked at me with kindness and asked,“Megan, what still seems to be bothering you?”

By this point, I had already experienced my life review, a sacred encounter with Archangel Michael in His golden capsule where He spoke Psalm 91 over my soul, and time in Temple with God and many Others. Yet something was still weighing on me. So I told Him.

“I still struggle to understand why I had to experience childhood sexual abuse, a fatal car accident when I was nine, helping raise my brothers, and rape. Where were the Catholic police for me? Where were my parents? Where was safety?”

What I was really describing was the lifelong heaviness of survival I felt. What I felt was an emotional cost of constantly bracing for the next wound, the sadness of never knowing when I would finally be okay. When I could just live life without a struggle of some sort. I told Him how impossible it felt to “accept” any of it.

Then Jesus asked me the question that would become one of the greatest teachings of my life: “What if I were to tell you that every experience you’ve had is a child within you? What would you do to these children?”

Without hesitation I said,“I would evict them immediately. They are old enough to take care of themselves.”

He smiled softly.“Ah. I see we have more to discuss.”

We continued talking, but He did not allow me to remember the entire conversation. What I do know is that He led me somewhere deeper, because when He asked me again:

“What would you do with these children now? Keep in mind… each one of them is you.”

Something shifted inside me. It was as if a light turned on in my mind and soul at the same time. I finally understood.

“I would acknowledge them,” I whispered.“I would listen to them. I would nurture them. And I would Love them.”

Jesus looked at me with such warmth.“That is beautiful, Megan. If you could name these children, what would you name them?”

I looked down for a moment, feeling emotional that I hadn’t known the answer sooner. Tears welled in my eyes. And then, with complete clarity, I said, “I would name them all Love.”

He asked,“Why would you name them Love, Megan?”

And I answered,“Because Love is what gifted me with my life. Love gave me the opportunity to grow emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually in this lifetime. It was Love who gave me the life I chose.”

I share this story to remind you: what happens in our lives has purpose. Before birth, I was told by God we choose our big life experiences. I didn't believe Him when He informed me of this, so He showed me the paper I signed after checking off all of the boxes indicating what I needed to experience. That understanding has allowed me to view each of my traumas not as life sentences, but as invitations to know myself — and others — more deeply. Where I once believed my experiences defined my worth, I now know they have offered me compassion, wisdom, resilience, and a profound intimacy with Love.

There was a time I suppressed every wound. Not anymore. I was introduced to the children inside of me . Each were waiting to be seen, heard, held, and healed.

What This Means for You

If you have lived through trauma, heartbreak, illness, betrayal, loss, grief, or emotional pain — you are not damaged.

You have children within you who need to be noticed.

The question is not:“How do I get rid of these parts of me?”

The real question is: “Am I willing to Love my inner children with new ears? Without judgement. Forgive myself for not being able to hear them. I didn't know they were needing my attention until I knew."

Because when we stop evicting our pain…When we stop shaming our story…When we allow ourselves to tend to the places that never felt safe, protected, or seen…

We begin to experience something profoundly sacred:

We return to Love.

And Love, I learned in Heaven, is at the root of all healing.

L — LightO — OrganicV — VoiceE — Echo

Your soul is the Light. You are the only one of you. Your voice begins at the very moment a thought is born. And what you speak — to yourself and into the world — echoes.

Be careful with how you speak to yourself. You and everyone else are listening.

An Invitation to Begin Loving the Children Within

If something in this story resonates with you — if there are parts of your life you’ve tried to silence, outrun, dismiss, or evict — I invite you to pause and listen differently.

There's no rush to your healing. There is no time frame in healing. You are already perfect. Growth can be messy because it has bends and curves. There are steps and stairs and bridges. Courage is when you choose to keep showing up for your life.

Mastery of Love is allowing yourself to attend the classroom of your life again and again.

The relationship you have with yourself is the most beautiful one you will ever experience. It will never abandon you, because it is the relationship with your soul and your soul leads with gentleness, grace, and acceptance. Your soul does not know fear. It only knows Love. And as you come to know Love in your mind, you will align with who you already are… even while you are still unfolding in your life with the rest of humanity.

Love does not require you to be fully healed to be worthy of it. Love is why you are here. And Love meets you exactly where you are — without judgment.

Place your hand on your heart. Breathe. Ask gently:

“What part of me is still waiting for my love?”

When we look at these inner children with compassion instead of resistance, healing takes place. They are not judging you. They are waiting to be seen, heard, nurtured, and Loved.

When we do this, life stops being about survival. It becomes about alignment with the sacredness of who we are.
